BOA APPOINT EIS STAFF FOR HOLDING CAMP
Three English Institute of Sport (EIS) practitioners have been appointed by the British Olympic Association (BOA) to work with Team GB athletes at the 2008 Olympic holding camp in Macau this summer.
Jeni Pearce (Nutritionist), Harry Brennan (Strength and Conditioning Coach) and Kate Goodger (Sports Psychologist) will join a team of BOA staff for the camp which will be the last port of call for the majority of British athletes before entering the Olympic village in Beijing.
“These practitioners will play an important role in the final phase of preparation for Team GB athletes and therefore we were looking to appoint staff with exceptional qualities and experience from within the high performance system” Bernie Cotton, the BOA Olympic Performance Manager, told eis2win.co.uk.
“The BOA is delighted with the appointments of Jeni, Harry and Kate from the EIS and the expertise that each of them will bring to the Olympic holding camp” he said.
Pearce, Brennan and Goodger will be responsible for liaising closely with National Governing Body (NGB) practitioners unable to attend the camp in planning and monitoring the delivery of their respective services to athletes whilst providing one-to-one and group support.
They will each spend a week in Macau in May to prepare and familiarise themselves with the venue before returning for the holding camp, which runs from 17th July until the 20th August.
All three will return to their respective roles at the EIS after the Olympics.
