The EIS team behind VI Judo

The English Institute of Sport (EIS) have played a significant role in supporting VI Judo during the current Paralympic cycle, with services delivered from the British Judo Performance Institute in Dartford and Bisham Abbey.

Athletes have benefited from Performance Lifestyle support throughout the current cycle, with EIS Performance Lifestyle Advisor Anna Palfreyman working closely with coaches and support specialists as part of an integrated team to minimise potential concerns, conflicts and distractions, all of which can be detrimental to performance, whilst more recently – since January 2012 – the squad have had access to EIS Sport Psychologist Simon Crampton, providing a new service to the sport.

In such a physically demanding sport Physiotherapy also provides a crucial service not only in treating injury but in providing a proactive approach to minimising injury risk.

British Judo Performance Director Daniel Lascau says: "We are very happy with the support EIS has provided to British Judo. This includes psychologists, physiotherapists and performance lifestyle advisors who are all key members of our High Performance operation."

"We intend to establish a link between EIS and SIS (Scottish Institute of Sport) to deliver lactate tests during competitions and final preparations at Performance Centres."
