England Target Six Nations In World Cup Year

The Women’s RBS Six Nations Championship reaches its half way point this weekend with reigning champions England on course to retain their title following two comprehensive victories in their opening matches against Wales and Italy.

England, whose squad access a range of English Institute of Sport (EIS) services including Strength and Conditioning, Physiotherapy, Performance Psychology, Performance Lifestyle and Performance Nutrition, face Ireland at Esher on Sunday (Kick off 3pm) as they target a fifth consecutive six nations Championship ahead of the World Cup in England later this year.

England head into Sunday’s game without having conceded a single point in the tournament so far, but England Head Coach Gary Street acknowledged that record will be hard to maintain against a spirited Irish outfit.

He said: "We have worked really hard on our defence this season and that has paid off - we have only conceded one try in eight hours of play which is a good record. Ireland, however, will be very competitive.

"I know they fancy their chances against us and they will come over here expecting to win. They are very competitive up front and have some good backs so we must ensure that we are on top of our game this Sunday."
