What we offer

The EIS is a dynamic, growing and fast moving organisation  that will offer you a flexible, positive, stimulating and challenging work environment with real opportunities to make the best better. Working for the English Institute of Sport brings its rewards not only in its salary and benefits package, but also in rewarding opportunities for learning and career development.

Annual leave

We offer 29 days annual leave plus 8 bank holidays for all employees. This is calculated pro rata for part time colleagues and fixed term/temporary contracts.

All employees are automatically enrolled into the Local Government Pension Scheme providing they meet the minimum salary threshold.  For those in the scheme the EIS pays a 4% pension enhance on top of your salary to assist with contributions.

Death in Service benefit x 4 times salary.

Health shield

We pay for the first level of cover and membership of Health Shield for all staff.  The Health Shield plan is a cash back scheme for common health related expenses such as eye tests, dentist and health checks.  Employees can supplement the membership themselves to cover family members if they wish.

Cycle to work

We operate a yearly Cycle to Work scheme where employees can obtain a bike to help with their commute to work, tax free through salary sacrifice.

Childcare vouchers

We partner with Sodexo to offer childcare vouchers for working parents, helping them to achieve savings on the cost of childcare through reducing the amount of tax and National Insurance paid.

Through our arrangements with BUPA, we can offer significant discounts on membership rates.

We encourage continuous professional development and offer a professional studies scheme to provide financial support for relevant academic and professional qualifications.

We provides Nike branded EIS kit for our employees. We also provide Mac books and mobile phones for colleagues that require flexibility in undertaking their role.

Development opportunities

Continuously developing the expertise and capabilities of our practitioners is critical to the on-going success of the organisation and we place a great deal of emphasis on creating opportunities for our employees at all levels to extend their knowledge and expertise and, at the same time, acquire the skills required to have a successful career in high performance sport.

Family friendly

We offer enhanced benefits for employees on maternity and paternity leave who meet the qualifying service: 6 months full pay maternity and 2 weeks full pay paternity.

Occupational sick pay

We pay full Occupational Sick Pay for 6 months and half pay for a further 6 months from the first day of employment.

Professional memberships

The EIS will consider payment of professional subscriptions that are relevant to the role.

“We know we must not stand still if we are to achieve our vision to be the world leading institute in high performance sport, and that continuously developing the expertise and capabilities of our practitioners is critical to our ongoing success, providing huge benefits not only internally but more importantly to the athletes and coaches we work with.”
