The EIS supports the athletes of over 40 National Governing Bodies (NGB's) of sports representing Olympic, Paralympic and a limited number of non -Olympic high performance sports such as squash, golf and rugby league.

When considering the Olympic and Paralympic sports, the EIS is the supplier of choice for the provision of sports science and medical support services. Individual sports are allocated funding through the UK Sport World Class Pathway, an element of which is set aside for sport science and medical service provision.

As an integral part of the high performance system, the EIS provides quality, consistency, accessibility and focus to service delivery requirements identified by the sports. We provide opportunities for the best science and medical practitioners to develop and disseminate their knowledge around the UK High Performance System, with the ultimate goal of enhancing an athlete's chance of stepping onto the podium.
