PEOPLE DEVELOPMENT

One of the main assets of the EIS is it’s people – those with a desire to learn and be the best they can be.  Our aspiration is to provide opportunities for the best practitioners across all disciplines and roles.  To support them in  developing and disseminating their knowledge around the UK high performance system, with the ultimate goal of working in partnership with NGB’s to enhance an athlete’s chance of stepping onto the podium.

Since it’s inception the EIS has strived to work proactively in development of all staff throughout their career with the EIS – enabling them to develop not only as individuals but also within the sports they work .

Development of staff occurs at various levels:

• Personal - eg through completion of a Masters, PhD or professional course
• Discipline specific - eg master classes on hot topics within disciplines
• Multi-disciplinary - eg sharing of knowledge and best practice across disciplines relating to applied work with athletes/coaches.

As we enter the next Olympic cycle we believe that offering staff  ongoing opportunities for development and progression will help us ensure that we are able to  recruit, retain and develop the best sport science and medical support staff.

Going forward into 2008, the EIS will be investing significant time and money in this area and organisationally, is looking forward to working with talented staff to deliver excellence toward 2012 and beyond.
