Sue Campbell CBE, Chair of UK Sport, visited The National Badminton Centre on Wednesday to witness first hand how Badminton England and the English Institute of Sport (EIS) are working together to develop a world class high performance environment at the Milton Keynes venue.

Campbell saw a ‘typical’ morning’s action at the Centre and took the opportunity to talk with players, coaches and support staff as well as receiving a full tour of the facilities, which are also available for community use.

The visit, specifically requested by Campbell, a government advisor on high performance sport, provided the opportunity for her see how partners come together at the venue to provide a facility which maximises the athlete’s chances of success.

The EIS provide a full range of service to Badminton from the National Badminton Centre including Performance Analysis, Strength and Conditioning, Performance Lifestyle, Sports Psychology, Nutrition, Physiotherapy and Medical support.

“This is a great opportunity for us to show Sue our commitment, expertise and the enjoyment we get from the work we do here” said EIS East Regional Manager Tim Newenham. ‘We really are committed to working closely with UK Sport and Badminton, looking together at every aspect of player preparation to see where improvements can be made, it’s great that Sue will get a feel for this particular environment first hand’.
