English Institute of Sport (EIS) Lead Sports Physician Dr Mike Loosemore will be among the presenters today (Wednesday 29th October) at a GE Conference on London 2012 legacy.
The event, being held at the British Museum in London, will bring together prominent figures from government and business to discuss how the delivery of a successful and sustainable London 2012 legacy can be achieved, and the role that new technologies will play in that effort.
Dr Loosemore will be joined by Dr Richard Budgett, Chief Medical Officer at LOCOG, and Nigel Mason, President of GE Healthcare UK, to form a healthcare panel focusing on medical legacy with a presentation entitled ‘The Health of a nation – A legacy for 2012’.
“Imaging technology is very much a part of our work at the EIS in the diagnosis and treatment of elite athletes” says Dr Loosemore, whose presentation will outline the usefulness of the technology today and how it can be taken forward towards 2012 and beyond.
“London 2012 is a huge opportunity for us to produce a strong and useful medical legacy. One I sincerely hope we can achieve” he told eis2win.co.uk
In 2007, GE Healthcare and the English Institute of Sport (EIS) signed a five-year agreement providing the EIS with three compact ultrasound systems to better care for the athletes of today and tomorrow. In addition, the EIS is equipped with the worlds first compact volume ultrasound system, GE Healthcare’s Voluson i, and have access to bone mineral densitometry technology in the iDXA.
The day also includes a keynote speech by Sir Clive Woodward, British Olympic Association (BOA) Director of Elite Performance and GE Chairman and CEO Jeff Immelt, whilst delegates will also witness an interactive exhibition of GE’s latest cutting edge technologies.
