Following on from the announcement earlier this week that British Diving had confirmed their partnership with the English Institute of Sport (EIS), British Disability Swimming has secured EIS services leading up to the London Games.
Having won 41 medals in the pool at the Beijing Paralympic Games, with a squad mixing both experience and young talent, the British squad will be aiming to keep their competitive edge over the next cycle.
“We are delighted to be working with the British Disability Swimming squad over the next cycle” says EIS Regional Director for the North, Peter Elliott.
“After utilising a range of services leading up to and during Beijing, we are hoping to build upon these foundations and ensure services continue to be world class and have a positive impact on performances, working closely with coaches and athletes” he adds.
The British Disability Swimming programme has retained EIS physiology, performance analysis and network services including medicine, soft tissue therapy, physiotherapy, strength and conditioning and having utilised a performance nutrition intern leading up to the Games, they will be taking on this service going forward.
Tim Reddish, National Performance Director for British Disability Swimming said:
“We have established a good working relationship with the EIS over that last four years on which we will now build upon. We want to develop our relationship further in order to implement a multi-dimensional sport science approach to maximise our potential to win medals at the London Paralympic Games."
