DOCTORS APPOINTED FOR BEIJING

The British Olympic Association (BOA) has appointed three Doctors from the English Institute of Sport (EIS) to work with Team GB athletes at the Olympic games this summer.

Dr Rod Jaques and Dr Mike Loosemore will be among four appointed doctors based at the Olympic Village in Beijing, whilst Dr Cathy Speed will also work as a HQ Doctor at the holding camp in Macau.

Dr Ian McCurdie, the BOA’s Head of Medical Services, told eis2win.co.uk: “The BOA is pleased to have appointed doctors of Rod, Mike and Cathy’s calibre to join our medical team in China.”

Dr Jaques, Director of Medical Services at the EIS said: “It is a great privilege to have been appointed by the BOA and I look forward to working with Team GB in Beijing.”

“I am also delighted by the appointments of Mike and Cathy which I believe go to illustrate the quality of medical staff here at the EIS and the high regard in which they are held” he added,

The appointments follow the announcement last month that three EIS practitioners, Jeni Pearce (Nutritionist), Harry Brennan (Strength and Conditioning Coach) and Kate Goodger (Sports Psychologist), have also been appointed by the BOA to work at the Olympic holding camp in Macau.

All will return to their respective roles at the EIS after the Olympics.
