UK School Games Announce Partnership with EIS

It has been confirmed that the English Institute of Sport (EIS) will be a part of the delivery team for the Culture and Education Programme at the 2010 Sainsbury’s UK School Games which will be held in North East England from the 2 – 5 September 2010.
The involvement of the EIS falls into two elements across the duration of the event. The first element is a sprint sessions which will focus on the specifics of nutrition, performance lifestyle and strength and conditioning. The second element will see a number of nutritionists providing expert insight at specially themed ‘Evening With’ on the Friday evening (3 September) in the athletes’ village.

“It’s really exciting to get a lead national partner on board to be part of the Cultural and Educational Programme, and one that can give such specialist support to the UK’s most talented athletes’ at the Sainsbury’s UK School Games.
“As the event is in England for the next two years it seemed only natural to get the EIS on board and their expertise will hopefully help more of our talented young athletes progress to the next level.”

The Sainsbury’s UK School Games will feature 1,600 of the UK’s most talented athletes compete across ten sports in venues throughout the North East. Road and Criterium Cycling has been added to the nine existing sports of Badminton, Judo, Hockey, Athletics, Table Tennis, Volleyball, Swimming, Fencing and Gymnastics.
