As sports teams and athletes strive for perfection, science is playing an increasingly crucial role in sports performance, with key innovations being harnessed by the English Institute of Sport (EIS) and UK Sport looking to boost athletes Olympic medal hopes.
Sport magazine spoke to EIS experts Stafford Murray and Will Forbes to understand how technology is influencing training as part of a feature on ‘The Science of Sport’, published last Friday, which is now available to view online here
Murray, EIS Head of Performance Analysis and Biomechanics, hailed the contribution of innovative partners such as McLaren F1, Sheffield Hallam University and Frazer Nash Consultancy, whilst Forbes explained how Dartfish video analysis software and Quintic biomechanical analysis software are being used by the EIS to improve athletes performances.
