LISTENING & LEARNING
The EIS National Framework was developed after intensive discussions with Performance Directors. It incorporates the lessons of the trialling period, which ended on March 31 2002, and covers the challenges of the Institute's first four years.
Year One 2002
Immediate Aim: Assist preparations for Commonwealth Games, World Championships.
Long Term Strategy: Contribute to success in Athens, 2004.
Targets:

Manage smooth transition from trialling programme.

Recruit primary service staff

Deliver Athlete Career and Education service

Make immediate impact in sports medicine, applied physiology, sports physiotherapy, strength and conditioning

Identify coaches and athletes

Start Excellence Programme, which encourages cross fertilisation of ideas between sports.
Year Two 2003
Immediate Aim: World Championships. Add to momentum of Athens efforts.
Long Term Strategy: Develop athletes in the World Class Potential Programme.
Targets:

Deliver all primary and supplementary services.

Recruit sports psychology staff.

Develop regional speciality services.

Deliver services to Potential athletes

Create European Links Programme. Each regional manager will develop a working relationship with a European Institute or High Performance Centre.
Year Three 2004
Immediate Aim: World Championships. Athens.
Long Term Strategy: Develop athletes in World Class Start Programme
