Paracanoe Performance

Whether sprint, slalom or para canoeing, efficient power transfer to the water demands strength, agility, quick thinking and strategic training programmes to enable athletes to peak at the right time, often within a relentless competition structure.

The specific canoeing discipline and athletes’ individual training needs determine the support services they access both in training, at camps and competition. UKSI practitioners deliver support with canoe slalom based at the Lee Valley White Water Centre and Holme Pierrepont and sprint at the UK Sports Institute Performance Centre at Bisham Abbey and Eton Dorney.

UKSI services are embedded within the performance programme to support coaches and athletes to close performance gaps. Optimising the impact support services make is crucial, whether that’s innovative performance analysis solutions to give valuable real-time feedback, tackling paddle stiffness, or integrating strength and conditioning and performance nutrition to ensure adaptations are made from gym to water.
