EIS National Conference 2019

James Platt | 18 December 2019

The English Institute of Sport (EIS) National Conference 2019 takes place at the East Midlands Conference Centre today (Wednesday 18 December), bringing together EIS staff from across the country to share learning, knowledge and ideas ahead of the upcoming Olympic and Paralympic year.

The theme of the EIS National Conference 2019 is ‘Games Readiness and Our Wellbeing’ (GROW), recognising 219 days until the start of the Olympics and Paralympics, and the fundamental role the EIS will play leading up to, and during, the Games.

The conference also has a strong focus on the physical health, mental health, wellbeing and development of staff, ensuring the EIS’s unique network of practitioners and experts can provide the best possible support to sports and athletes.

Nigel Walker, National Director at the EIS, said:

“The EIS National Conference provides a fantastic opportunity for our people to share information, celebrate successes and look ahead to a hugely exciting year featuring the Tokyo Games.

“Our network of 400 plus staff work all around the country, embedded within over 40 sports. Our National Conference is a chance for all these people to gather together, look back at the many highlights from a successful year, and share knowledge about our readiness and wellbeing ahead of 2020.”

The EIS National Conference, led by the EIS Learning Team, features keynote speakers, a range of forums looking at different aspects of wellbeing and the EIS internal awards ceremony.

The social media hashtag for the event is #EISConf2019.
