EIS statement on funding settlement from UK Sport

Commenting on today’s announcement of confirmed funding for the EIS until 31 March 2022, Nigel Walker, EIS National Director, said:

“We are pleased with the confidence that UK Sport has shown in the EIS and the High Performance System overall. Although we have received a reduction in our funding from our previous allocation in 2016, we are very aware of the current restrictions on public spending and the ongoing challenges facing society.

“The confirmed funding will allow the EIS to continue delivering vital services to the High Performance System and focus on ensuring sports and athletes receive the best possible preparation and support for the Tokyo Games.

“We know that these are incredibly difficult times, and we are grateful to the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport (DCMS), UK Sport and The National Lottery for their ongoing support to both the EIS and British Olympic and Paralympic sport.”
