The players and coaching teams benefitted from the world class facilities and worked with EIS support staff on areas such as training at high heat and humidity.

Senior Performance Innovation Consultant at the EIS, Victoria Downie, explained: “At the EIS, we provide expert support to ensure elite athletes can excel and it has been a pleasure to share this knowledge with the England Women’s team this week.

“It was a real team effort to prepare the facilities, with operations, physiology and performance innovation coming together to ensure this was a world-class experience for the players.

“We must also give thanks to Serco, who manage the site, for their cooperation and support to help this camp run as smoothly as it has.”

As part of the six-day camp, players were working on individual development plans, while those who will be heading to Tokyo this summer were also utilising innovative EIS heat tents, which replicate the temperatures predicted in Japan.

Home to England Hockey, Bisham Abbey’s facilities are also used by the GB Rowing Team and British Canoeing, amongst other high performance sports.
