Performance Psychologist (working with British Canoeing-Sprint)
ROLE & PERSON SUMMARY
The primary aim of this role will be to support the coaching process by the delivering psychological support through front-line coaches. To achieve this, the successful candidate should be able to build coaching trust, demonstrate a clear performance mindset, and be comfortable in working through coaches to support them and their athletes. On occasion, individual athlete support will be required as per discussion with the coach and the wider support team. In addition to the above, the facilitation of group sessions (coach-coach, coach-athletes) will be integral to this role, with a focus on how to best develop key athlete behaviours and skills at relevant stages from our talent pathway to senior level.
To meet the above, we are looking for someone whom is both personable and direct. He/she should be capable of creating relationships quickly, be a sounding board for coaches whilst also being firm on agreed accountability (where required). Having the ability to work in partnership with the coach and athlete will be key whilst maintaining trust.
Outside of this, the successful candidate will form part of a close-knit group of successful coaches, athletes and support staff which strives for excellence daily. He/she should be accepting of the need to be flexible in style/delivery where warranted without sacrificing any agreed non-negotiables.

Performance Support Lead (working with British Sailing)
The core purpose of this role is to maximise the impact of EIS contracted performance support services (SSSM) on performance within British Sailing. A key area of work for this role is to lead on the delivery of the “Great People” strand of the Sailing SSSM strategy which aims to address recruitment, induction and development opportunities for practitioners aligned to the unique needs of sailing as a sport.

The EIS, in partnership with British Cycling and the University of Chester is offering an exciting MSc Studentship opportunity to a dynamic, self-motivated individual committed to a career in Performance Analysis. Alongside their studies on the MSc Sport Sciences (Performance Analysis of Sport) postgraduate course, the successful candidate will engage in an industrial placement with British Cycling, spending time learning alongside EIS Performance Analysis practitioners within the World class programme.
The English Institute of Sport & British Cycling will provide full sponsorship of the course fees for the 2018/2019 academic year.

Although it is not routine practice for EIS to offer work experience opportunities, in occasional circumstances where there is a lull in the sports calendar or there is some availability of suitable support, EIS has been able to provide short work experience placements for PhD and MSc level students providing there is a clear link to their course of study.
