Location
The normal place of work is Sheffield; however, the role may require you to travel to and work at other training sites and to attend both international/national training camps and competition as agreed with the Head of Managed Sport.

The purpose of the role is to lead high performance coaching for GB Climbing, specifically delivering high-performance technical coaching to drive increased podium success for GB Climbing athletes at IFSC World Cup Series, IFSC European & World Championships and Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. 

*Lead the development and implementation of the GB Climbing “What it Takes to Win” philosophy / model, and as a result drive performance levels for named athletes on the GB Climbing – Medal Support Plan (MSP), Aspiration programme and wider GB Climbing senior squad.  

*In collaboration with the MSP performance coach, Aspiration and GB squad athlete individual personal coaches develop clear individualised technical and competition plans that enabling these named athletes to achieve and meet all milestone targets and key performance indicators developed and agreed as part of the MSP and Aspiration programmes. 

*Providing sport specific direction and effective positive open working as part of a multi-disciplinary team to create a world class, high performance training environment for MSP and Aspiration athletes.

*Working with the BMC, contribute to optimising the GB Climbing high performance culture and environment for all athletes in the senior GB Climbing squad, particularly when travelling as GB Head Coach at IFSC World Cup Series, IFSC European & World Championships and the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. 

*Maximise the learning of the Tokyo 2020 cycle to inform BMC Paris 2024 & LA 2028 World Class Performance strategy development as BMC aspire for Great Britain to be the world’s leading competition climbing nation by 2028.  

*The role will include a significant level of international travel for training and competition, working with and communicating with and keeping the Head of Managed Sport fully informed of all activities.
