In a multi-event sport demanding extraordinary physical and psychological capabilities, Pentathlon GB use sport science and medical services to compliment the volume of training hours and technical requirements athletes must excel at.

Practitioners work closely with athletes and their coaches to help them adapt to suit each sport they will train for and compete in; fencing, freestyle swimming, equestrian show jumping and a combined event of pistol shooting and cross-country running.

Support services work to support each athletes’ training programme and individual needs; from physiological optimisation in running and swimming through to eye-tracking analysis to perfect focus under fatigue in shooting. Services are delivered at the programmes’ base at the University of Bath as well as at camps and competitions.
