The EIS has worked with GB Taekwondo since 2004, predominantly delivering support out of the sport’s Manchester training base.
Integrated within the programme, EIS support staff deliver multidisciplinary support both in training and away at camps and competitions around the world.
Performance Analysis is a service that GB Taekwondo fully understands the advantages of and has been applied within the programme for a number of years. Taekwondo is a particularly technical sport and the information provided through performance analysis can provide coaches and athletes with data on which to base changes technique, as well as provide real-time feedback during competition.
As a physically demanding sport, strength and conditioning and physiotherapy also provide core integrated services to keep athletes on the mats performing optimally, whilst performance lifestyle provides a valuable service to the sport, including establishing a partnership with a local sixth form college to enable athlete on the programme to combine studies with their training.
The UK Sport/EIS Performance Pathway team has also worked closely alongside the sport for a number of years developing the sports pathways, including delivery the Fighting Chance initiative which successfully integrated several athletes to the current programme including Lutalo Muhammad, Damon Sansum and Charlie Maddock.
